Bavarian Championships of the youth 2021
Bavarian Championship AK 16/18 Boys
This year's championship of the AK 16/18 boys took place in the scenic golf club Eschenried near Munich. With a total of 9 participants, the Valley Golf Club provided one of the largest teams.
The participants were faced with some challenges due to the external conditions. Saturday was dry and sunny, but with a lot of wind, which affected many a shot. Sunday was rainy and windy at the beginning and sunny from around 10am.
Ben Kelling coped best with the conditions on Saturday with a very good one over par round (73). With the 3rd rank (AK16) after the first round Ben had a very good starting position for Sunday. Ben: "The first day went quite well, especially the irons and tee shots. It became difficult because of the shifting wind and the different weather conditions. After day 1 I wanted too much and hit too few greens on day 2, coupled with chips that didn't land close enough to the flag the result was this. But I'm already back practicing since Monday and looking forward to the DGL weekend."
The other good scores on Saturday came from Jonathan Soemer (AK18) and Elias Hertan (AK18) with a +6 (78) round each.
On Sunday, the rest of Valley's players showed their potential. The best round of all players was achieved by Justus Lück with a strong 2-under par (70) round and thus achieved the 4th place in the AK16, followed by Ben Kelling in eleventh place. Justus: "On the first day of play my irons were very inconsistent I didn't hit many greens and made very few ab and downs, I also didn't hole any longer putts. On the second day my irons were much more consistent I hit 15 GIR holed many longer putts for birdie and my drives were perfect." The best placings in AK18 were achieved by Max Friesinger with 11th and Elias Hertan with 17th place.
A total of seven of the nine participants from Valley qualified for the preliminary round of the German Championship.
Participants: Justus Lück 9th place, Ben Kelling 11th place, Maximilian Freisinger, Elias Hertan, Linus Dittmann, Jonathan Soemer, Buchinger Moritz, Buchinger Lorenz, Lukas Prautzsch
Bavarian Championship AK 18 Girls
12-18 were held this year in the Golfpark Rothenburg-Schönbronn, embedded in a slightly hilly and quiet landscape of the nature park Frankenhöhe.
In the AK 18 girls, who started from the blue tees, the results were very close after the 1st day of play, so everything was open and possible for the final day.
Lisa Gillen started the 2nd round from a shared 2nd place with her competitor from the Munich Golf Club, Antonia Treitinger and Theresa Bodensteiner shared 3rd place with equal strokes and Aylin Sommer followed in 7th place.
At the end of the 2nd day of play, Antonia Treitinger's round of 78, two strokes behind the runner-up, secured the bronze medal and 3rd place for Valley. "It was as always a great team spirit with us, certainly more would have been possible and we are already looking forward to the Bavarian Team Championships in a month," said Antonia Treitinger.
She was immediately followed by our two high school graduates Theresa Bodensteiner and Lisa Gillen in 4th and 5th place, who had taken their 3rd written Abitur exam on the Friday before the tournament round.
With Aylin Sommer in 8th place, all 4 participating girls from Valley have now qualified for the preliminary round of the German Championship, which will be held at Golf-Club Kürten e.V. Bergerhöhe from July 9-11, 2021!
Bavarian Championship AK 14 Boys
After the 3 days on the hilly course of the GC Augsburg and the difficult conditions, our two beacons Kilian Probst and Michael Mayer were really ready to fry.
At the weekend were the Bay. Championships of the AK14 in the GC Augsburg. We had extreme weather from the warm-up round, to the final day, with heavy rain, lots of wind, with few clearings and played on a completely soaked course. It was played on the very hilly course, therefore with better laying on the whole area.
At times it was so wet that we lost balls on the fairway and in the semirough because they were so dug in. Without a pre-caddy it would have been even worse and even one referee said it was very borderline.
Michael: "Unfortunately, nothing worked on the first day and I hardly hit a fairway with my drives. Also my irons and my short game were completely gone and so it was unfortunately only a 14 over. My goal on the second day was to hit at least 11 fairways and 2 of the 4 par-3 holes. That worked out even better and so I could bring a 5 over into the clubhouse despite an out ball at hole 9, where I could still save a bogey. Overall, I was also able to improve to a shared 6th place as a result."
Kilian was happy about his participation and still has many Bavarian Championships ahead of him in his life.
