German Golf League 2021 - 1st Matchday
The hosts were in a class of their own this weekend, but with a strong 2nd place in the team standings and the best individual result of the entire match day, the Bundesliga ladies of GC Valley München have successfully started the 2021 first division season of the German Golf League presented by ALL4GOLF. On the par-72 course of the GC St. Leon-Rot in Kraichgau, the team of coach Danny Wilde and assistent Coach Constantin Schwierz, finished second after two rounds of counting play and left the players of the Munich GC just as clearly behind them as the ambitious promoted Fürth; the Frankfurt GC had not sent its women's team to the start due to the pandemic and will not take part in the action until the second day of play. Valley's Lilian Klug rounded off the successful start to the 2021 Bundesliga season with a flawless round of 66 and played the best score of the weekend with six under par.
St. Leon-Rot/Valley - "My team improved in the second round, which is why I am ultimately satisfied with our opening weekend in the 1st Bundesliga," Danny Wilde summed up after the two tournament days in St. Leon-Rot; due to the Corona pandemic, only two individual rounds and no foursomes had been played. "On the first day, almost all players had tee-off problems, especially on the greens it didn't go well - my girls left way too much behind," said the coach. Throughout the day, he saw colorful scorecards from the Valley ladies, and after 18 holes, a score of 13 over par from five rounds scored. Nina Lang brought home a par round of 72 as the best result, Verena Gimmy and Sonya Knebel each needed 73 strokes, and Selina Weiher posted a 77; Chiara Horder (78) and Maria Anetseder (79) ranked even behind. "Completely unnecessary," Wide stated, because he had no doubt that much more was to be gained on the course of the GC St. Leon-Rot in somewhat cool weather but basically good external conditions: "If the three-putts are omitted today, then after 18 holes we are 6 under par and not 13 over par!"
Logical consequence of the analysis: an extra unit after the round on the putting green as well as an all the more motivated start to round 2. "The girls are hot for more birdies," said the GC Valley-Munich coach. "After nine good holes, the clocks are back to zero. But not much has happened so far," Wilde announced a comeback for Sunday, and it followed promptly: the team improved by a total of twelve strokes compared to the previous day, playing five scored rounds with a total of 1 over par and thus making 2nd place overall perfect. Lilian Klug, whom the coach had left to stew on the bench in round 1 and who was given preference over Maria Anetseder on Sunday, played a major role in the brilliant comeback. With her round of 66, a total of 6 under par, Lilian Klug catapulted her team to second place after 36 holes with a total of 14 over par, actively supported by Chiara Horder's round of 71 and the solid results of Nina Lang (+2) as well as Verena Gimmy and Sonya Knebel (both +3); Selina Weiher also showed improvement, her 76 strokes were ultimately Valley's stroke result.
Season goal German Championship
"So that she plays exactly like she did today!", Danny Wilde explained why he had not used the so strongly performing Lilian Klug in the first round. A calculation that undoubtedly worked out perfectly, and which now gives Valley four valuable points for the league standings.
The season's goal for the ladies of GC Valley Munich this year is not just the Final Four, but the German Championship. Accordingly, Danny Wilde and his ladies will do everything possible to take five points from Frankfurt on the second match day. Whether he and whom he lets stew therefore if necessary for tactical reasons first times on the reserve bank, that is up to 29. May the secret of the coach; on this day in any case round 1 of the 2nd play day of the German gulf league presented by ALL4GOLF 2021 stands in the Frankfurt GC on the program.
